Orlando, Florida – March 1, 2016 – Joint Active Systems, Inc. (JAS®) has signed a non-binding letter of intent with Empi, Inc., a subsidiary of DJO Global, Inc., to acquire the Empi® Advance® ROM line of dynamic braces. JAS, the pioneer and global market leader of Static Progressive Stretch (SPS) Range of Motion (ROM) therapy, had recently expanded their product offerings to include a full line of Dynamic Splint devices. By adding the Empi Advance ROM product line, JAS further reinforces their role as a single-source provider for ROM therapy, simplifying the marketplace for patients, practitioners and insurance companies.
“I’m excited about the opportunity to bring Empi Advance ROM back into the marketplace and fill the needs of practitioners who have found it beneficial in their patient’s therapy” says Dr. Peter Bonutti, JAS founder. “Adding the EMPI Advance ROM product line ensures we remain the Range of Motion specialists.”
“The rehabilitation market is constantly changing, and JAS strives to best meet our customers' needs by constantly evolving with it,” says JAS co-founder Boris Bonutti. “With two unique and complementary lines of dynamic therapy products, JAS can expand to serve the therapy needs of patients and practitioners in orthopedic AND neural recovery. This perfect match of technology and design will benefit patients AND the marketplace.”
“This is actively changing the face of JAS as we know it,” says Dr. Bonutti. “Expanding our offerings with complementary products and increasing our advanced technology application will help JAS evolve into the next 20 years.”
JAS originally entered the dynamic splinting market to answer a steady flow of requests from doctors and therapists to offer a JAS-quality dynamic ROM product for their patients who could benefit from this ROM therapy approach. JAS responded with JAS Dynamic Splinting technology. The JAS Dynamic line incorporates the key, patented engineering features of the current JAS line - preventing joint compression, assuring maximal ROM excursion, allowing for patient controlled force adjustment, and eliminating muscle guarding - the end result is optimized safety, comfort, patient compliance, and outcomes. Following the proposed acquisition, JAS will be able to offer the Empi Advance ROM product line alongside the existing JAS Dynamic line, in addition to the JAS SPS, JAS EZ and JAS GL products.
Headquartered in Illinois, JAS is the sole manufacturer and provider of the complete lines of JAS SPS, JAS EZ and JAS Dynamic ROM devices. With unequaled design technology, JAS moves beyond convention to assure the best results for patients challenged with ROM loss. Since its inception over twenty years ago, JAS has helped to successfully restore ROM in extremity joints of more than 250,000 patients. Learn more about JAS at jointactivesystems.com
