MINNEAPOLIS, MN--(Marketwired - August 26, 2015) - With the recent initial surgeries of the Conventus PH Cage™ patients and their surgeons have begun benefitting from the industry's first self-expanding fracture cage.
Utilizing the shape memory properties of nitinol, the Conventus Cage™ System expands within the bone creating robust fixation and preventing further collapse of the fracture while eliminating the need for allograft. Similar to the company's first DRS™ product for the wrist, the new Conventus PH™ Cage implant creates a rigid internal scaffold upon completion of the implant procedure.
With the shoulder's range of motion and unique forces, physicians have long awaited a less invasive and more stable surgical approach over current technologies. Prior to the introduction of the Conventus PH Cage™, patients with multipart fractures of the proximal humerus requiring surgical treatment were limited to traditional fixation technologies or in some cases left to consider shoulder replacement alternatives.
