MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Blue Belt Technologies, a medical device company specializing in technology solutions for orthopedic surgery, announces 1,000 cases utilizing the company’s proprietary implant, the STRIDE Unicondylar Knee System. STRIDE has been commercially available since October 2013.
“Its performance shows that surgeons are embracing all the advantages Navio partial knee replacements have to offer.”
The STRIDE implant is used in surgical treatment of early to mid-stage osteoarthritis that affects either the medial or lateral compartment of the knee. STRIDE offers patients an advanced implant for partial knee replacement that has been optimized for robotic-assistance with the Navio® Surgical System.
Dr. Michael Langworthy, Chairman of Orthopaedics at Southcoast Health System, New Bedford Massachusetts performed the procedure on June 9th. “Arthritis is a leading cause of disability in adults in the United States,” said Dr. Langworthy. “The ability to precisely place partial knee replacements is very important to excellent outcomes and function for patients. The Blue Belt robotics-assisted technology has markedly improved the surgeon’s ability to consistently perform arthroplasty surgery but without exposing the patient to unnecessary radiation. My patients have been very happy with their function and ability to retuning to activity and work.”
“We’re extremely pleased with STRIDE’s quick adoption and clinical performance,” said Eric Timko, President and CEO of Blue Belt Technologies. “Its performance shows that surgeons are embracing all the advantages Navio partial knee replacements have to offer.”
STRIDE is one of many implant options supported by the Navio system. Through an open implant platform, Navio supports leading knee systems to provide surgeons the precision of robotics while preserving implant preference.
